Child and Babysitting
Certification Class
$110 per person
Recommended Age: 11 or older
This certification course provides the skills and knowledge needed to become a confident, prepared babysitter. This 2‑hour live class covers child development, the business of babysitting, family orientation, emergency prevention and response, and essential safety practices. The class also includes key Infant & Child CPR/First Aid concepts to support calm and capable responses during emergencies.
Learning is individualized based on the group’s questions, interests, and curiosity.
CPR/First Aid content is educational only and does not provide CPR certification.
Ages: 11+
Certification: 2‑year babysitting certification
Minimum: 4 participants

Format: Taught in the comfort of your home for a relaxed, engaging learning environment.
Blended Class: Child and Babysitting Safety Certification & Home Alone Class
$150 per person
Recommended Age: 11 or older
This 3‑hour blended class includes both the Child & Babysitting Safety Certification and the Home Alone Safety course. Participants learn essential babysitting skills, child development basics, safety awareness, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The class also covers family communication, expectations, and staying home alone safely with confidence.
This blended class includes knowledge of Infant & Child CPR/First Aid concepts but does not provide CPR certification.

Home Alone Class
$80 per person
This class helps prepare children for the experience of staying home alone safely and responsibly. The session covers key safety topics, including basic first aid concepts, choking response, fire safety, household rules and expectations, safe behaviors, regular check ins with parents or guardians, time management, and how to decide when to call for help. The class includes essential knowledge of safety and emergency response but does not provide CPR certification.
Learning is individualized based on the group’s questions and curiosity, creating an engaging and relevant experience for each participant.
Ages: 10 and up
Minimum: 3 participants required
Parents / guardians are solely responsible for determining whether their child is ready to stay home alone. This class does not certify or approve a child for independent home care.

My name is Danielle Otterspoor and I’m the owner and founder of Better Babysitting Certification. I am a certified instructor through HSI, a nationally accrediting training organization.
I have over 20 years experience in the early childhood field and a Mom of two young boys. I’m passionate about keeping children safe and inspiring young people to give children their very best! I look forward to working with you.
So excited about the service and quality of training that Danielle provided my two daughters. Registering for the course and setting a time was beyond easy! Danielle taught them caregiving skills, infant care, first aid and CPR, and how to handle a variety of difficult situations that might come up.
